Exploring a new area is my favourite thing to do. I thought I would share with you my go-to brunch/coffee spots in Walthamstow as I recently moved close to the area. Let me know if there’s anywhere you’d recommend too; I always love a new suggestion to try at the weekends.
56 St James
Perched on the corner of St James Street and Station Road (currently closed) . Famous for their epic sourdough toasties and legendary weekend brunches. Everything I’ve sampled has been wonderful. On a Friday evening it serves cocktails and has a late license until 11.30pm which is great if you live in the area and want to stay local (currently closed).
Buhler & Co
If I had to pick my favourite, favourite place for breakfast in Walthamstow then this would be it. It’s a vegetarian spot a few minutes walk from the tube station. The menu is globally inspired and the kind of great vegetarian food that you can eat and enjoy without even noticing the absence of meat. I love the Indian inspired vege fry up, but the specials are always worth a look-in too. They use wonderful local suppliers, including; Climpson & Sons coffee.
Wood Street Coffee
If you’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth, then this is the place to choose for breakfast. The brioche french toast is absolutely delicious. On a weekday the cafe is filled with freelancers and their MacBooks, parents with their babies and builders from the various local sites. This mix creates an authentic community feel, a “worker’s” cafe in every sense of the word.
Froth & Rind
Is located in the heart of Walthamstow Village, serving great coffee and their famous cheese toasties. I recommend the emmental and chorizo toastie. The friendly staff make you feel nice and relaxed, it’s a laid back environment. If you’re ever wandering around Walthamstow Village definitely pop in if you a big fan of coffee and cheese.
Lighthaus Cafe
Is a new cafe I’ve recently discovered and I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it. Located on the Argall avenue industrial estate. My twin sister and I fancied some brunch and this was the perfect spot. It has quite a small menu, the coffee is great and we had great bacon and fried egg rolls. Will be back to try the rest of the menu – the pancakes sounded incredible.
Dudleys Coffee
The newest addition to Wood Street in Walthamstow. Let me tell you they serve the best chilli scrambled eggs, the best I’ve had in a while. The menu has a great selection of dishes to choose from, they also serve great coffee. Glad this is going to become a local brunch spot of mine.
St J’s
My absolute favourite place in Walthamstow to get a flat white. It’s so creamy and just perfect. I work in here a couple of days a week on my laptop, it’s got a nice relaxed atmosphere even though it does get quite busy with children in here. They also have a reasonable and delicious breakfast menu, totally recommend the scrambled eggs on toast.
Nice Post! Thanks for sharing this post.
You should try Coffee Boxx for brunch on a weekend the samostie is out of this world!!!
