Birthday Tea At Fortnum & Mason

I love afternoon tea, I’ve been lucky enough to experience quite a few. However, afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason is my favourite out of them all. It’s stunning, elegant decor and relaxing environment makes you feel really at home. Fortnum & Mason presents it’s tea in the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon on the fourth floor. Fortnum’s offers four options for afternoon tea: classic, savoury, vegetarian or high tea.

We sat down and the knowledgable staff explained to us what was on offer and guided us through the extensive tea menu. As a birthday treat me and my friends decided to go for the classic champagne tea. It came out on a beautiful traditional three-tiered cake stand. I love the traditional Fortnum & Mason turquoise coloured teacups and teapots.

Coronation Chicken Sandwich, Fortnum’s Smoked Salmon Sandwich, Glazed Ham with English Mustard Sandwich, Cucumber with Mint & Lemon Butter Sandwich and Rare Breed Hen’s Egg Mayonnaise with Chives.

The sandwiches were constantly replenished, after another round of sandwiches we were ready for something sweet.

Then the most heavenly scones arrived. Cream on top. Obvs.

Freshly Baked Plain and Raisin scones with Somerset Clotted Cream with a choice of Lemon Curd or  Strawberry, Raspberry and Blueberry preserve.

We then tucked in to the delicate patisseries pictured above. I can’t remember which ones were what but they didn’t hang around for long. Once we finished our stack of treats, we were then able to chose a cake from the trolley.

I chose the raspberry and white chocolate cake, with layers of delicious sponge, raspberry cream topped with fresh raspberries. At this point we couldn’t eat another bite, so we took some cake home with us.

Fortnum & Mason is located just a short walk from either Green Park or Piccadilly Circus underground stations at 181 Piccadilly, St James, London, W1A 1ER.

Have you tried afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason?
