August Eats In London

More often than not, readers, friends and family often have one question: Where should I eat in London right now? I thought I would start a new monthly round up of some of the places I have enjoyed eating at during the month, hopefully giving you guys some recommendations if you’re ever stuck for places to go. All my reviews are honest however I know that everybody has different tastes so may not suit everyone.

By Chloe

Location – One Tower Bridge, 6 Duchess Walk, London SE1 2SD

By Chloe has just opened it’s second branch in London and is a great spot for some lunch around the Tower Bridge area. Delicious vegan food at an affordable price. I would definitely recommend trying the pesto meatball roll & the salads are a great choice and super filling. I loved the laid back atmosphere and is great space to work on your laptop for a few hours.

Baozilnn

Location – 24 Romilly St, Soho, London W1D 5AH

A friend and I went to lunch here a couple of weeks a go, it’s a Chinese street-food restaurant in Soho. It’s not my typical place to venture for lunch however I loved everything about this place. It’s all about the buns at Baozinln. Highlights include the Chinese vegetable bun made of green spinach dough and the prawn brioche, so delicious! The dan dan noodles with a side cooling of spinach in ginger juice is a great combination. I’m really looking forward my next visit, to work through the rest of the menu.

Radio Alice Pizzeria

Location – 16 Hoxton Square, Hoxton, London N1 6NT

I loved Radio Alice. Being the pizza queen that I am, this had a thumbs up from me. The n’duja pizza is delicious and I would 100% order it again. I love the way they cut the pizza’s in to eight slices, so it’s pre-sliced. The pizza was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I found that the base was the perfect consistency & not too heavy.

Savage Garden

Location – floor 12, 7 Pepys St, London EC3N 4AF

Located on the 12th floor of the Doubletree by Hilton hotel London. Savage Garden has an outstanding rooftop bar giving you great views of the city, overlooking London’s iconic landmarks such as Tower Bridge and the Gherkin. The food was great, some dishes included charcoal beef sliders, squid on a stick & for injectable doughnuts for dessert. It’s a great spot for a couple of cocktails or a date night, however for dinner & drinks it is on the more expensive side.

Jacob The Angel

Location – 16A Neal’s Yard, London WC2H 9DP

An English coffee house situated in Neal’s Yard, a pretty corner in Covent Garden. It has a menu that changes daily and has the friendliest staff. The counter was full of amazing cakes, pastries, sandwiches and salad bowls. Our lunchtime highlights included a filo pastry filled with spinach and feta as well as a salmon & cream cheese bagel, plus a seasonal salad. Very fresh ingredients that were full of flavour. Unfortunately the space is limited so can be quite crowded at lunchtime, however you can takeaway and go and sit on the benches in Neal’s Yard.

Camino

Location –  2 Curtain Rd, London EC2A 3BL

A short walk from Liverpool Street, Camino serves an extensive list of Spanish tapas dishes. The waitress recommended ordering 6-8 dishes between us, which was a task in itself as everything sounded delicious. The padron peppers, iberico ham and baby squid was great to start. The larger plates being the octopus & duck breast were a great sized portion and full of flavour.

Little Bat

Location – 4 Islington Park Street, Cocktail Bars Islington, London N1 1PX

As you guys already know I’m a massive fan of brunch, I feel as though my expectations of brunch are way up there. This spot in Angel was great, brunch dishes included chicken and waffles & caramelised banana french toast. We went at 10am on a Sunday morning, there wasn’t too much of an atmosphere as we were the only ones having breakfast. The brunch dishes however tasted great!

Hawksmoor

Location –  157A Commercial St, London E1 6BJ

I was invited along to the Hawksmoor in Spitalfields to try out the new bar menu and the cauliflower cheese nuggets  are a winner. I’d also highly recommend the hawksmoor double cheese burger paired with a full fat old fashioned cocktail. The bar is situated in the basement and the lighting is very dim therefore the photo’s weren’t the best I’ve taken. Loved the atmosphere, a great spot for after work cocktails and some bar snacks.

That’s my monthly round up of August done! Let me know if you’ve been or have tried any of the dishes above, I’d love to know what you thought! G xx
