FOXHILL MANOR – LUXURY COUNTRYSIDE HOUSE IN THE COTSWOLD

Seeing as though 2020 is going to be a year of UK staycations, it’s the perfect time to book yourself into a luxury house hotel like Foxhill Manor located on the beautiful Farncombe Estate in the Cotswold. This Grade II listed manor house is the ultimate autumnal hideaway, surrounded by 450- acres of woodlands. It’s the place to get cosy, relax, and completely unwind.

There are only eight guest bedrooms with each room being decorated differently. We stayed in room Chestnut, one of Fox hill’s biggest bedrooms. The room had a huge kingsize four-poster bed, a walk-in shower, a freestanding roll-top bath, Temple Spa toiletries, flannel robes, and slippers for all guests, and a Nespresso machine alongside some treats to snack on. The room also gives stunning views over the estate. This hotel has really thought of everything to make your stay feel as luxurious and comforting as possible.

The interiors are a mix of contemporary and antique pieces with lots of stunning art situated throughout the house. It gives a luxurious yet homely feel, think comfortable leather armchairs where you can curl up, in front of the crackling fire with a good book and some champagne.

You can opt to borrow some wellies and head for a woodland walk, or choose to have an afternoon nap, with a treat of freshly baked scones and cake for when you wake up. There’s an outdoor jacuzzi, nestled away in the woods, where you can sip champagne and look out onto the stunning views, I mean why not?!

In terms of food and drink, the choice is yours at Foxhill Manor. I loved the concept of the ‘no rules’ policy where you’re invited to have a chat with the chef and design your own three-course menu for dinner depending on what you feel like eating. The food is out of this world and they use the freshest, seasonal ingredients working with local farmers and suppliers making sure they use as much local produce as possible. During our stay here, for dinner, I had the best Comté cheese soufflé of my life as a starter, followed by mushroom and truffle risotto, with sticky toffee pudding with custard to finish.

Again, with there being no menu for breakfast you can choose a cooked breakfast of your choice, served alongside some fruit, pastries, juices, literally anything you fancy.

You can choose to dine wherever you want in the house, bringing such a relaxed and chilled atmosphere. In our case, it was a few steps from our hotel room on the first floor, a private window table with incredible views. If throughout the day you’re feeling peckish you can tuck into the complimentary in-room pantry full of all sorts of goodies. You’ll also be offered complimentary drinks throughout your stay including soft drinks, spirits, wine, and champagne.

Don’t forget to visit Dormy House (famous for it’s renowned spa) or The Fish Hotel , sister hotels to Foxhill, where you’re able to use the facilities and restaurants on site.

The atmosphere throughout our stay was very peaceful and relaxing and the hotel itself never felt crowded or busy with people at any given time.  The staff and service were absolutely faultless and they would go that extra mile to make sure your stay was one to remember. I’m already planning when my next visit is going to be.

Rooms at Foxhill Manor start from £439.

This stay was kindly gifted, but all opinions are my own, and I certainly wouldn’t have posted about it had I not had an amazing time.
