Alberobello – Puglia Road Trip

After driving half an hour from Polignano a mare with lots of countryside to admire along the way, was a beautiful little town called Alberobello, located in Puglia.

What makes Alberobello so special is the sheer concentration of trulli in a village setting, with entire streets of trulli concentrated together. A trullo (the singular word for trulli) looks as though it should be on the pages of a fairytale.  They are small, round shaped “mini-houses” built in prehistoric times and made with white limestone bricks and then grey stones which form pointy roofs on top.

Our hideaway for the night was more than I could have possible imagined, it was in the most beautiful trullo. It was called Romanic Trulli for a reason. It had the most comfiest looking bed with a little area featuring a kitchenette, bathroom and a terrace. In the morning a traditional Italian breakfast was served. They have eight trulli’s in total, if you’re looking for a romantic and cosy place to stay I would 100% recommend staying here.

The owners of the B&B recommended that we go to lunch at a restaurant inside a trullo called ristorante Trullo D’oro and it did not disappoint, it was a great lunch spot. When hunger strikes, what could be better than a dish of orecchiette pasta 🙂 We then strolled around Alberobello looking in the souvenir shops and taking in the scenery, before heading off to our next place on our Puglia road trip, Otranto.

Have any of you visited Alberobello before?
