Barcelona City Guide

Barcelona City Guide

My sister Laura and I always do a trip abroad annually and this year we chose to visit Barcelona. A city that I fell in love with when I visited for the first time last year, I could not wait to return for a girly few days with Laura. Barcelona has it all, from a sunnier climate and a beach to amazing architecture and of course, the food. We stayed in the beautiful Praktik Garden hotel which I would totally recommend. We had a garden room, which meant we faced on to the terrace, instead of the street, which was nice and quiet. The rooms were perfect and decorated beautifully.

An Escape To The Countryside

An Escape To The Countryside

Although I’m a city girl at heart, there’s nothing quite like a trip to the countryside. My twin sister Laura, our family dog Tilly and I headed up north, to the lovely Lake District in Cumbria. It’s my new favourite place in England. The views were incredible driving through the Yorkshire Dales, the crisp air and the abundance of greenery, made me feel very relaxed and happy

Otranto to Gallipolli – Puglia Road Trip

Otranto to Gallipolli – Puglia Road Trip

After we checked out of our beautiful trulli in Alberobello, it was time to drive further down south along the coast to Otranto. It took us just under two hours. We had pre-booked three nights in Otranto. We stayed at Relais Valle Dell’Idro, I booked it via booking.com, the reviews were great and it was in a perfect location. Otranto is a small seaside town in the province of Leece. We spent some time here relaxing, chilling on the beach and swimming in the crystal clear sea. We spent the evenings wandering around the narrow alleyways and browsed in the beautiful souvenir shops.

Alberobello – Puglia Road Trip

Alberobello – Puglia Road Trip

After driving half an hour from Polignano a mare with lots of countryside to admire along the way, was a beautiful little town called Alberobello, located in Puglia. What makes Alberobello so special is the sheer concentration of trulli in a village setting, with entire streets of trulli concentrated together. A trullo (the singular word for trulli) looks as though it should be on the pages of a fairytale. They are small, round shaped “mini-houses” built in prehistoric times and made with white limestone bricks and then grey stones which form pointy roofs on top.

Bari to Polignano a Mare – Puglia Road Trip

Bari to Polignano a Mare – Puglia Road …

As we were planning our road trip for 2 weeks in Puglia, I kind of had to make it up the best I could as there was not loads of information available online. We left planning our accommodation only 3-4 weeks before, that didn’t mean that we lost out though as every place we stayed in did not disappoint. We vaguely had a route planned, of the places we wanted to visit, though it didn’t allow us time to spend a great deal of time in one place, however we came away feeling that we captured the essence of the region and we fell in love with Puglia straight away. We landed at Bari airport, and picked up our rental car for the two weeks and checked in to our first B&B just outside the centre of Bari called Le Tre Sorelle for one night.

Holiday In Photos

Holiday In Photos

I’ve just got back from the best ten days in Oludinez in Turkey, I’m already missing the 30 degree heat and waking up to a sunrise swim in the pool and sea. It truly is a beautiful place with friendly welcoming people and has a number of delicious restaurants to choose from. Two favourite restaurants of mine were Izela which is in Kayakoy and also Buzz Bar in Oludinez.
