My Top Five Lunch Spots In London

After my Top Five Brunch Spots in London post, it was about time I got stuck in with lunch time spots, wasn’t it? So today I’m bringing you five of my favourite places to head if I’m feeling peckish around the midday mark. In terms of what you’d like to see next, I’d obviously like to cover dinner, but I’m also thinking a coffee and juice version would be good, as well as a take away edition too. Let me know what you think, but in the meantime this will probably make you hungry so make sure you have a snack to hand 🙂

Flat Planet 39 Great Marlborough Street, W1F 7JG. It was actually my brother that opened my eyes up to this place, a good find centrally located just off Carnaby Street. If you’re in the mood for a deliciously topped spelt flatbread or a filling salad, you’re in luck. It’s good value for money and all freshly made leaving you feeling very satisfied at the end. I tend to go for the Med Chick where the flat bread is topped with chicken seasoned with lemon and thyme on a sundried tomato base with cherry tomatoes, rocket and basil – parmesan pesto crumbs.

Pho, has various locations in London. It’s mine and Jonny’s go to spot for a relaxed lunch and my ultimate hangover haven. It serves fresh, healthy and authentic vietnamese food. We’re never hanging around for long in Pho, as it’s super quick. I highly recommend the bowl of Pho with garlic steak and the Goi Ga shredded chicken salad with asian herbs, peppers and a chilli ginger dressing, it is seriously packed with lots of flavour.

Ottolenghi, there’s five different locations around London, one of favourites being the one in Islington. If you like deli – style salads, meats and breads its definitely worth a visit. I can’t go to Ottolenghi without getting one of their stunning looking cakes, if there’s no room for cake or dessert you can always take it away.

Bao London is located in Soho, Netil market and Fitzrovia. The Taiwanese street food located in Soho has a short and simple menu organised around xiao chi (small dishes), bao (signature steam milked buns) and sides. I’ve tried the confit pork bao which is stuffed with generous strands of confit pork belly, dried shallots and hot sauce. It tastes sweet, tangy and salty all at once. Make sure you leave room for the dessert bao!

Beigel Bake, situated on Brick Lane where you can grab a beigel, sounds boring but it really isn’t. I always go for the salt beef bagel with gherkins and lots of mustard. They have all different sorts of fillings cream cheese, nutella, salmon, peanut butter, the list goes on. Cheap, quick and a tasty lunch for when your in a rush or on the go.

What’s your go to lunch spot in London? G xxx
